Hey all, I am a paediatric nurse from Adelaide, South Australia who is constantly inspired by others to keeping working hard to make the world a more beautiful and safe place. I have a wonderful family in my hometown of Adelaide, well most of the time that is where you will find them. I have a Mum, Dad and two Aunties who are avid travelers and are always looking for their next adventure. I also have an incredibly talented and passionate younger sister who spends her time between Australia and Canada carrying out her PhD and opening the eyes and ears of many about the experiences of people with dementia and their families when these individuals transition into long term care. My friends, mostly in Adelaide but also spread world wide, are my most constant support and despite my flaws and the distance and time we often go without speaking or seeing each other, I am constantly embraced by them with love and kindness. Speaking of distance and time, it is not only my family who have the travel bug - I too spend a lot of my time out of Australia and particularly over the past nearly 5 years. In the middle of 2014 I met my now fiance, Amrit Gandhari, who is a beautiful musician and music therapist from Nepal. Since meeting Amrit, I have spent a lot of my time in Nepal and we seem to have spent a lot of time holidaying together - how blessed we are :) I have also spent time in remote parts of Australia up-skilling as a paedaitric nurse and a six month life changing experience in Sierra Leone in the second half of 2017. I have been home for the last 8 months (I think the longest time I have stayed put for a while) working as paediatric nurse consultant at the Lyell McEwin Hospital, in the northern suburbs of Adelaide. Prior to meeting my brilliant fiance, I spent 4 and a half years working and loving my time caring for children and their families at the Women's and Children's Hospital in Adelaide, in general medical wards as well as haematology/oncology (absolutely loved it!). I have now begun the next chapter in my life, spending time doing various study and works in Nepal awaiting a nursing post to who knows where and to what country....watch this space!! My life has always been full of love, laughter and adventure and while the last few years have been challenging and somewhat crazy, some might say, I feel like the luckiest person in the world to have had these experiences, to be so loved and to now feel at home in not only one place, but two. The thoughts of starting a blog and opening up to the world is absolutely terrifying for me!! However, I love writing and I hope that by sharing some of my thoughts during this next chapter in my life; I will be able to not only process, reflect and find gratitude within my own thoughts and experiences but also share the thoughts and experiences of others to provide a platform whereby we learn from each other and encourage understanding and kindness in every corner of the planet.

A REFLECTION ON MY NEPAL

I would first like to say that all photos in this blog have had the permission of those in the photos to share them. Also, I recognise these as my own experiences, viewpoints and perceptions and I appreciate that as individuals we all have our own life journey, meaning that no two experiences, viewpoints or perceptions will be the same – I think this is … Continue reading A REFLECTION ON MY NEPAL
